Characteristics
The SCP-332 depth filter sheets represent an approved and established filtration technology for solid liquid separation.
The pore size can be fine enough to retain bacteria down and thus produce a sterile liquid. The dirt holding capacity of a long depth filter sheet can be up to 2 KG per m2.
In the filtration process, solid particles are slowed down and eventually retained by the tortuous path inside the filer sheet and by electrokinetical interactions. Through this unique mechanism, a high capacity can be achieved.
Applications
There is a broad field of applications for the depth filter sheets. Porosity grades are available from course over fine to germ reducing and germ removing filtration.

Function principles (precaot filtration)
Filter aids suspended in a liquid are deposited on cellulosic sheets in plate and frame filter processes. The cellulose does not filter at all, but act as septum for the filter aids, it is the applied <cake> of filter aid of which does not the filtration. The differential pressure build up signals the end of the filtration run. Since the cake is usually thicker than a filter sheet, precoat filters render longer runs and have a larger dirt-holding capacity. The spent cake can be flushed from the sheet with a gentle water or compresses air jet, or it can be carefully scraped off the sheet.
After washing and sterilization, the sheet is ready for another use.
Sterilization conditions
The sheets can be sterilized by hot water(85℃-90℃) or inline steam (100℃-110℃) in 20¡ä.
